NCI Announces Results of Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial
Men who took finasteride, a drug that affects male hormone levels, reduced their chances of getting prostate cancer by nearly 25 percent compared to men who took a placebo, according to results of a national study released today online by the New England Journal of Medicine.

NCI Planning Study of Bevacizumab (Avastinâ„¢) for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) today announced that it is planning to open a clinical trial that will evaluate bevacizumab (Avastinâ„¢), an antiangiogenic agent, for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who are no longer benefiting from effective, standard treatment regimens. Patients in this trial will receive bevacizumab in combination with 5-fluorouracil (5FU) and leucovorin.
